How will the world of tomorrow look like? Science fiction authors should not be the only ones to design possible scenarios and to identify important questions of the future. It is also on us to reflect these issues now. Today, scientists from all disciplines, politicians, business managers and media experts are exploring the idea of individual visions for the third millennium. Their work forms a tremendous source of ideas, with fertile contribution from a wide range of fields: sociology, psychology, the work of research centers of chemistry, biology, computer science, and genetics.
This knowledge has to be made acessible for the benefit of everyone. Knowledge demands the interdisciplinary dialogue and the process of learning from individual realities.

Consequently the Burda Academy for the Third Millennium, founded by the publisher Hubert Burda in 1994, aims at inspiring the free discourse, the exchange of ideas concerning our present and our future. The model traces back to the antiquity, to the Academy of Plato. The Athenian academy represented a place for discussions and the search of answers to the existential questions. Today, the Burda Academy for the Third Millennium operates as an international platform for experts of all disciplines, opinions and social fields. The logo of the Academy stands for the intercourse of different visions and structures of thinking, as well as for the process of uniting this knowledge.

The Burda Academy for the Third Millennium defines topics and discusses important key issues in an interdisciplinary way. The events and publications consider topics ignored or underestimated by the public concerning their level of importance.

The Academy's activities, especially the international conferences and symposiums, are supported by innovative partners in the field of the economics, who are as well actively reflecting important questions of the future.
