The Unmasking 3 is the latest incarnation of my ongoing work and research into the nature of the digital archive, and a critical response to its widespread adoption by global memory institutions.

Oladélé Ajiboyé Bamgboyé is an artist who was born in Nigeria and is currently working London. His work exists critically within the complex and volatile nexus of technology and cultural history. The ongoing Unmasking series (1999) focuses on the problems of cultural history despite the purported inter-connectedness of the society of today. Working with computer programmers and scientists, Bamgboyé's ongoing work and research revolves around the making available of cultural artefacts which remain not only buried within museums but in museums themselves which are thousands of miles from the source of their collections. Some of his solo exhibitions include Art Pace, San Antonio (1999); Inova, University of Milwaukee (1999) and Witte de With, Rotterdam (2000). His group exhibitions include Johannesburg Biennial (1997); documenta x (1997); Laboratorium, Antwerp (1999), Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (2000) and at the Tate Britain, London (2000).
