Gabriel Orozco was born in 1962 in Veracruz, Mexico and lives and works in New York and Mexico City. His work involves the poetic transformation of common objects in an engagement with ideas of space, time and mobility. His solo exhibitions include Museum of Modern Art, New York (1993); Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (1997); Musee de Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (1998); Portikus, Frankfurt au Main (1999); and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (2000). His group exhibitions include the Whitney Biennial, New York (1997); documenta x (1997) and SITE Santa Fe (1999).
